    Charles H. Wiltsie house

This flamboyantly eclectic house was designed by Sharon’s own E. E. Clepper; it was built in 1910 for the manager of a hardware and construction firm. By big-city standards, Mr. Clepper’s style was about twenty years behind the times; but Mr. Wiltsie certainly got a distinctive house, and the details are unusually well preserved.

    Whitla mansion

A very shingly house designed by Charles H. Owsley, who would also design the Buhl mansion across the street; this one was built in about 1890. The restoration of the house was done on a budget that did not permit custom windows to fit in the arches, but much of the most characteristic detail has been preserved.

    599 East State Street

New windows and siding have not been kind to this Shingle-style house, but the picturesque composition of gables, dormer, and oversized turret comes through anyway. It was built in about 1891.
